Curcumin (spice)
Curcumin is the active ingredient from the turmeric root. As an intensely orange-yellow, naturally occurring chemical compound, it is said to have many positive effects on health: Alzheimer's, strokes, digestive problems, cancer, chronic inflammation and joint pain. In Ayurvedic medicine, it has been used for thousands of years to treat gastrointestinal problems such as indigestion, bloating, flatulence, constipation and inflammation of the intestinal mucosa. It also has a noticeable effect in naturopathy, for example in osteoarthritis and rheumatism. Here it can relieve inflammation and reduce the need for painkillers and cortisone.
